Electric Force
Static electricity
A “build-up” of electric charge
Electric Charge
Charged particles from the atom
protons (positive)
electrons (negative)
1 e- = 1.6 x10-19 Coulombs
Electric Charge
Electrostatics - the study of electric charges at rest
Charging - transferring electrons in such a way that either an excess or deficiency is created
conduction - transfer of charge through direct contact
                  - electrons move from high concentration
                   to lesser concentration
induction - charging without direct contact of a
charged object. A charged object is
brought near an object which is
                   grounded. Electrons are then either
attracted from or repelled to the ground
Electric Force
Like charges repel
Unlike charges attract
