| 40 | Lathe | Chuck part and face to clean up. | ||
| 50 | Lathe | Center drill with a #3 center drill. This will be the 0.375 diameter end. | ||
| 60 | Lathe | Turn part in chuck Face to length and center drill with a #4 center drill. | ||
| 70 | Lathe | Set up lathe to turn between centers. Remember to plan ahead for center hole removal on the large end of the workpiece. | ||
| 80 | Lathe | Knurl 0.50 end with a straddle type knurling tool. Make sure you knurl far enough to remove the center hole in the 0.50 end. | ||
| 90 | Lathe | Turn the part around. Use a soft material to protect the knurl from the dog. | ||
| 95 | Lathe | Turn the 0.45 diameter. | ||
| 100 | Lathe | Turn the 0.375 diameter. | ||
| 110 | Lathe | Set up the taper attachment. Be ready to answer questions on how to measure the taper. | ||
| 120 | Instructor | Have instructor check set up. | * | |
| 130 | Lathe | Take trial cuts. Check the taper. Make adjustments if necessary. | ||
| 140 | Lathe | Finish cutting taper to the dimension. | ||
| 150 | Lathe | Deburr the part. | ||
